Big Grins on Autobahn FULL Circuit Track Event

Our third evening track event took place on the full circuit at Autobahn Country Club. This is the second time we have run this configuration where the North and South circuits are connected together to create a 19 turn, 3.56 mile track. Because of its increased length, it presents some logistical challenges that require some creative solutions. For example, to clear the track more quickly at the end of a session, the checkered flag is initially shown at between turns 12 and 13 — a section of the track know as “The Jump”. A backup or final checker is show at turn 17, immediately before the pit entrance. This shortens the “cool down” lap to just the length of the north circuit but reduces the time to clear the track by almost 2 minutes. This allowed us to provide each of our three run groups 3 – 20 minute sessions.

Our event sponsor, PowerStop Brakes, provided certificates for their Track Day brake pads. Certificates were randomly awarded at the drivers meeting before the event and following the event.

The weather could not have been better! The prior weekend saw tropical temperatures in the mid 90s, with heat indexes over 100 degrees. Luckily, by the time we took to the track, temperatures were in the comfortably low 80s with not a cloud in the sky. Conditions were ideal for both car and driver.

90 drivers attended this event, 27 in the advanced/instructor group, 30 in the intermediate group and 33 in the novice group. Our novice group included 19 who had never been on track before.

Our evening ended with a pizza party and many ear to ear grins.

Our next track day is our full day event in conjunction with Milwaukee Region at Blackhawk Farms Raceway on Monday, July 16th. This event will also have a Time Trials segment with timed lapping sessions using transponders. There is still time to register for this event, what are you waiting for?
