March 2019 REmarks
Hello everyone,
I am happy to see that we have a great looking 2019 schedule. Many of our members have been working on scheduling our Road Tours, Track Days, Autocrosses, Club Races, membership meetings, Street Survivals, and many other events. I would like to thank all of you that were involved with getting these events scheduled. Thanks in advance to everyone that helps run and attend our events. If you aren’t helping or attending, I invite you to come out and have fun with cars.
At the SCCA National convention a great amount of support and excitement has been centered around Track Sprints. This is new to many regions and it involves using part of a race course for timed segment. This is different than an autocross at a track where there are added cones and maneuvers. At a Track Sprint you race the race course as designed. The section of the track will be carefully selected so you probably won’t be doing something like the corkscrew at Laguna Seca, but it will be an exciting on track experience.
The Checkered flag was well attended, and it appeared that our guests had a great time. I don’t believe there were any tickets or arrests, so that’s a big win. If you didn’t hear the story, ask Rick Mancuso about the first 930 he had for sale. Big thanks again to Rick for allowing us to be guests of Ferrari Lake Forest.
We have a membership meeting coming up at Blackdog Speed Shop, be sure to see our website for details and attend if possible. Their services range from simple to complete race fab, so come out and see them.
I am writing this from the balcony of our hotel room in Cabo San Lucas. Yeah, I ditched the Chicago weather for a week of sun and sea with my lovely wife. So I am going to conclude this update and wish you all well. I look forward to seeing you at our events and meetings.
Adiós, muchachos,
Chris Gregor
