Blackdog Speed Shop – March 15, 2017 Membership Meeting
Join us for the Chicago Region’s March Meeting/Social Event to be held at Blackdog Speed Shop, 505 Bond St. Lincolnshire, IL 60069. Blackdog Speed Shop is a high performance prep shop for building and setting up everything from ultimate street cars to championship race cars. The speed shop is also home for the Blackdog Racing Team. Founded in 2002, Blackdog Racing began competing Chevrolet Corvettes simultaneously in SCCA T1 and World Challenge. Following their success in road racing Blackdog began receiving numerous requests to help others with their own vehicles. As a result, Blackdog Speed Shop was born in 2005. Blackdog has continued to expand its shop size and activities over the past years. Later this year they will be moving from their 20,000 square foot shop to a new 60,000 square foot facility. Their services now include modifying engines, suspensions, and transmission for high performance street cars to building championship race cars.
The team’s race operations have been very successful and they have won the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Pirelli GTS World Challenge championships. In 2017 the Backdog Race Team will be campaigning two new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 race cars in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class.
The March meeting will include a tour of their shop and numerous vehicles currently being worked on. Also, Ray Sorenson, Race Team Manager, will talk about the shop activities, shop racing history, and 2017 race program for the new ZL1 Camaros. Come join us Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 7pm for an exciting and informative gathering to learn more about a competitive team in a very competitive race series.
