2018 Track Day Schedule Takes The Green Flag
Following our usual evening format, we took to the track at 5PM sharp with ride-along previews for our newest participants. The ride-along previews consist of an out-lap, one “hot” lap and a cool down lap during which our instructors point out features that are unique to a racing facility. After that we moved into our lapping sessions of approximately 20 minutes each which repeated for the next 3 hours. Our three run groups for the evening were Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. At the conclusion of our lapping sessions, we provided pizza and beverages for everyone attending.
A welcome addition to this track day was trackside support provided by Underground Autosports, our sponsor for this event who also brought out a thermal imager. Temperature scans of tires and brakes after coming off track provided valuable insights to our participants.
Of concern during our drivers meeting at 4PM was weather. Radar was showing rain heading towards Autobahn CC, so our participants were briefed on what to do on a wet track. Luckily, the storms faded before reaching us and aside from a few stray drops, we stayed dry for the entire event!
47 participants took to the track spread across our three run groups: 12 in the novice group, 14 in the intermediate group and 21 in our advanced group. We can happily report that everyone had a great time on track and some of our newest participants have already signed up for our next event on Friday, June 1st on the South course at Autobahn Country Club.
