The “FUN Committee” is looking and asking for your help

Just about three years ago the Chicago Region started what is now known as the “FUN Committee”. As a group the committee tried to come up with another name but nothing else fit what we wanted to accomplish.  Our goal is to create interest and promote social activities within existing and new club events. If you are currently involved in club activities you may have seen, heard of, or participated in something the committee has created or done.  If you are not currently active in club activities but have read about or heard of some of the FUN Committee’s work you may want to come out and join in on the FUN.  The Committee is also looking for more people, to expand our group and have a presence in all aspects of the clubs activities.   

Here are just some of the things the FUN Committee has done thus far.  In the very beginning and what spawned the committee was their work on the celebration of the 60^thrunning of the Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints®.  The very successful and well attended visit to Iron Gate Motor Condos in Naperville that supported Cal’s Angels, a 501(c)(3) pediatric cancer foundation.  The Jim Swintal artwork for the June Sprints tee-shirts celebrating “Seven Decades of Motorsports”.  The Checkered Flag Parties, celebrating our club activities and recognizing individuals for their personal achievements and accomplishments.   The Geneva Concours d’Elegance celebrating the Chicago Region’s 70^thAnniversary with our “Concours for Sports Cars” supporting Geneva Concours’ Not-for-profit (501(c)(3) organization promoting the art of the automobile to benefit the LIVINGWELL Cancer Resource Center, in Geneva, Illinois.  Most recently a private visit and tour of the all new Blackdog Speed Shop, home of Blackdog Racing Team Chevy Camaro GT4.R four time Perelli World Challenge GTS Champions, 2013, 1014, 2015, 2017.

Moving forward the committee is working on the celebration of the Chicago Region’s 75^thAnniversary in 2023, club social gatherings during the off season, and our continued celebration of our “Seven Decades of Motorsports”, that includes the Jim Swintal artwork project, a continued presence at the Geneva Concours d’Elegance, the 70^thrunning of the Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints, the 50^thAnniversary of the Chicago Region’s Solo (Autocross) program, and continued development and growth of the Checkered Flag Party. 

We are always looking for ideas, is there something you would like to do or see, share with others. There is no idea, request, or thought that is too small or less important. But we need creative people to help us nurture, and message some ideas, take something that was good and make it exceptional.  With all that said, is there anyone out there that would like to join our group, become a member of the FUN Committee.  We need your help to expand and develop the Chicago Region’s social presence. Take our Region’s activities to the next, higher level, and ensure The Chicago Region continues to be the premier Region in SCCA, the leader that Chicago Region has been and continues to be.  As a member of the Fun Committee what will the demands be on you and your time? There will be monthly meetings, adjusted if necessary. Provide help and support before and at events depending on the event type and the committee’s involvement.
