Rushing Waters Fall Tour – October 13, 2018
Several years ago the Chicago Region SCCA held a tour type rally to LaCrosse Wisconsin. A number of the entrants had their private radios with them to communicate with each other as we traversed the tour route. There wasn’t much conversation over the radios just once in a while. Then all of a sudden the silence was broken! A familiar voice came across the airways, goats, goats, goats, and then it went silent. What we all found out later that day is that a small heard of goats were on the road just past a curve. Apparently the noise from the car and its driver yelling as load as possible on the radio scared the goats away because no one else observed the obstacle.
Now, I can’t promise you the same level of excitement, nor do I want you to experience it for yourself on the next Chicago Region SCCA fall tour. However, if you join us this coming October 13, 2018 the Chicago Region and its G.O.A.T.S. backroads tour series will provide you with an enjoyable day of driving scenic backroads, social gathering and the availability of great food.
The Saturday October 13, 2018 tour will begin at Loves Truck Court, Roscoe IL., at Rockton Rd. and I-90. Registration will open at 9:00 am, drivers meeting at 9:45, and first car off promptly at 10:00 am.
The route for the tour is approximately a one hundred and forty five mile drive (about three to three and a half hours) providing scenic roads with plenty of turns and elevation changes. We have planned a mid-point stop (if you choose) at Holy Hills located in southeastern Wisconsin, on the highest elevation in this part of the state. Situated on 435 acres of rural countryside, it provides you with an opportunity to take in some beautiful scenery, study the architecture of the Basilica, and if open you may climb to the top of the historic tower to take in the views of the nearby countryside.
The end point will be at “The Trout House at Rushing Waters” in Palmyra, Wisconsin for a chance to socialize and visit with friends and fellow tour mates and enjoy a refreshment or two. The lunch menu is small but offers a verity of choices with prices ranging from $4 -$15 dollars, and the full service bar offers a wide choice of libations.
Registration opens on August 13, 2018. Entry Fee: $7 Members, $10 Non-members. Register for this event on MotorsportReg.com. The entry deadline is Saturday October 6, 2018
