Rushing Waters Fall Tour
The Chicago Region SCCA hosted our second back roads tour of the year, part of our G.O.A.T.S. backroads tour series, on Saturday October 13. Thirty five cars entered the event, Miatas, Corvettes, Porsches, a Jensen-Healey and several other makes of sport and performance cars, all started the event under cool temperatures and cloudy skies. The temps never really gained much during the day maybe a few degrees but the clouds cleared out to provide beautiful sunny skies.
The route for the tour was a one hundred and forty seven mile drive over scenic roads with plenty of turns and elevation changes. A mid-point stop (if one chose) at Holy Hills located in southeastern Wisconsin, atop a glacial hill at the highest elevation in that part of the state. Situated on 435 acres of rural countryside, Holy Hill is a Religious shrine with a beautiful church built in 1926. Views from the grounds and the church were fantastic with the sun shining over the beautiful fall colors of the tree canopy below.
The end point at “The Trout House at Rushing Waters” in Palmyra Wisconsin was just right for a chance to socialize and visit with friends and fellow tour mates and enjoy a refreshment or two. We had several platters of appetizers, with bruschetta, cheese, trout, and salmon, the bruschetta with a small piece of trout on top was delicious. As everyone sat and talked Jon Sutton and I had an opportunity to visit with everyone and ask if they had a good time, the response was unanimous, “great time, can’t wait for the next one, thank you for putting this together”. So if you missed this event there will be more. Watch the Regions web-site, Piston Patter, and MotorsportReg for the next great adventure of the G.O.A.T.S. backroads tour series.
